Research Abstract

液晶に電場を印加した際に発生する流動を応用することで,極小サイズの駆動装置(アクチュエータ)の開発を試みた。電圧3~10 V,周波数1~1000 Hz の矩形波電圧を液晶に印加して,質量約0.05g のガラス平板を運動させた。測定は偏光顕微鏡下で行った。印加電圧が大きいほど平板は高速で運動し,本実験範囲内では周波数が約100 Hz のとき,平板は最大速度90 μm/sで運動することがわかった。また,計算結果と実験結果は満足に一致した
