Research Abstract

次世代の光通信に用いる超高速で動作する全光学的デバイスを実現する為に、高非線形カルコゲナイドガラスを用いて、方向性結合器やマイクロリング共振器等の光デバイスが製作された。これらのデバイスは、断面積が1x2μm^2程度の単一モードの光導波路から構成されている。これらの試作デバイスの線形及び非線形特性が1.06μmの波長において調べられた。共振器の場合、共振器内の光強度が増大するために、コンパクトなマイクロリング共振器でも光双安定性が観測された。これらの非線形デバイスの開発と関連して、本研究で用いたカルコゲナイドガラスの非線形光学特性が、Z-スキャン法と誘導ブリルアン散乱によるパルス圧縮技術を組み合わせた新しいアプローチにより調べられた。またフォトニック結晶リング共振器がコンパクトな非線形光デバイスに応用できるかどうかを調べるために理論的研究がなされた。
