Research Abstract

本年度も引き続き、フェムト秒レーザーパルスをサファイアなどの固体結晶内部に集光照射することで生じるマイクロ衝撃波によって形成される細孔及びその周囲の結晶構造変化の形成メカニズムに関する研究を行った。解析する試料として、これまでの行った研究と比較して改質領域の大きい細孔構造を基板全体に作製し、直径数10μmサイズの円筒形状の改質部位をサンプル全体に1.5-2.5μm間隔で得た。これらの作製した改質領域に対して、日本のSpring-8、及び米国Argonne National Laboratoryのシンクロトロン放射光施設を用いてX線を照射することで、改質部位の構造解析を行った。現在はこれらの膨大な計測結果の解析を進めている段階であり、まだすべてのデータを解析し終えたわけではないが、相転移の本質に迫る結果が得られると考えられる。また、ニッケル及びシリコン薄膜にレーザー光を集光照射することによって形成されるリップル構造についても、その形成過程の解析を行った。その結果、どちらの場合においても、光電場の垂直方向成分とプラズモン増強効果がリップル構造形成に大きく影響していることが明らかとなった。
一方、液晶液滴をレーザートラッピング法によって捕捉し、液晶液滴内部の分子配向を制御することによって、光の偏光状態をコントロールすることが可能であることを見出した。レーザー光の偏光状態は、誘起される改質部分の形状に大きく影響を与えることが予想され、この知見はレーザー光の偏光状態と改質の形成について解析するうえで重要となると考えられる。
