Research Abstract

we have established rapid method to screen for congenital cytomegalovirus infection using loop-mediated isothermal amplification of DNA extracted from filter paper containing dried blood.
We screened about 1000 neonates and confirmed three asymptomatic infected neonates. This method is sensitive and more cost effective than the nested PCR method.
