Research Abstract

クモ膜下出血は脳動脈瘤の破裂によって生じ、約半数が死亡する重篤な疾患であるが、今なお外科的治療以外に予防的治療はない。我々は脳動脈瘤の発生と増大においてNF-kB を中心とした慢性炎症反応がかかわっていることを解明した。臨床的にもスタチンがNF-kB を抑制することにより動脈瘤の進展を抑制さらには動脈瘤壁の変性抑制作用を示すことを報告し、動脈瘤の新たな内服による治療の可能性を発見、証明した。
