Research Abstract

本研究は、インターロイキン(IL)-17を産生する新たなヘルパーT細胞(Th17)による口腔免疫調節機構を解明することを目的とし、口腔乾燥を主症状とするシェーグレン症候群(SS)をモデル疾患として研究を行った。その結果、SSの小唾液腺組織ではIL-18が腺房上皮細胞に、IL-17が主に浸潤CD4陽性T細胞および導管上皮細胞に発現していた。また、IL-18はIL-17による唾液腺上皮細胞株からの炎症性サイトカインの産生を相乗的に促進し、Th17が口腔疾患の病態発現に重要な役割を果たしていることを示唆する研究成果が得られた。
