This study aims to develop a novel bone regeneration system which helps or substitutes for cell transplantation. Among three pillars for regenerative medicine, we tried to improve two factors : "signal" and "scaffold". The combined use of nano-carriers and biomaterials induced the activation of osteogenic signal in cells around bone defect sites, which enabled bone regeneration without cell transplantation. In addition, we developed a technique for three-dimensional imaging followed by rapid prototyping to generate tailor-made artificial bone that fitted into defect sites.
