Research Abstract

キイロショウジョウバエの嗅覚神経細胞は50種類のクラスに分化し、それぞれクラス特異的な匂い受容体を発現するとともに、その軸索を脳の一次嗅覚中枢のクラス特異的な領域へと投射することで脳内に匂い情報の空間地図を構築している。この多様な神経クラス分化とクラス特異的な軸索投射を制御する分子機構を明らかにするため、いくつかの候補遺伝子について、その遺伝子の変異が嗅覚神経細胞の神経クラス分化と軸索投射に与える影響を解析した。その結果、RUNX ファミリーの転写因子Lozenge、EGFR シグナル伝達に関わる遺伝子群、および、Evi1原癌遺伝子のショウジョウバエにおける相同遺伝子hamlet が、それぞれ特定のクラスの嗅覚神経細胞の分化と軸索投射に関わることを明らかにした。
