Research Abstract

研究プロジェクトの一年目は、超音波機器のリース、必要なコンピュータハードウェアとソフトウェアの購入、さらに研究アシスタントを訓練し、実験を計画した。MATLABプログラムは信頼出来るデータ分析のために作成された。日本語と英語の調音セッティングの相違を測定し、その結果をニューヨーク大学の学会で発表した。
二年目は、超音波機器のリースを継続し, より多くの日本語のデータを収集した。日本語を話す時の日本人の活発な舌の位置のデータベースを構築した。このデータベースは世界で始めてのものである。これは日本語と他言語の相違を教えるのに役に立つだけではなく、第一言語として日本語を学んでいる聴覚に障害がある人のためにも役に立つだろう。
さらに、日本語と英語の相違が表示されたこのデータは、ムードルに組み込まれた会津大学の発音の授業や、発音がテーマのNHKのテレビ番組で使われた。さらに現在共著している音声のテキストでもこのデータを使っている。
日本語と英語の調音セッティングの正確な比較ができるよう英語音の声道のMRIデータを収集した。このデータは2009年7月一8月にカリフォルニア大学バークレー校で行う音声についての集中講義で使う予定である。
