Research Abstract |
The motion use of verbs of sound emission (e.g.The trolley rumbled through the tunnel) turns out to have two types : motion-describing type and motion-induced type. The motion-describing type is essentially the same as manner-of-motion verbs like roll. By contrast, the motion-induced type behaves similarly to path-incorporating verbs like enter.
