| Research Abstract |
1974年に着手した西表島地域研究の中で、あらゆる分野の研究や地域発展の基盤となるべき伝統的地名についての確かな資料が公刊されていないことから、これまでに収集した約1000件の地名について、方言による発音の正確さに重点をおいて再確認のためのフィールドワークを実施し、地名の意味の現地での説明や、土地利用の変遷などについてのデータベースの構築をおこなった。
