Research Abstract

X線散乱測定等を用いて液晶性ソフトマターの構造とそれに及ぼす電場効果を調べた結果、以下の成果が得られた。(1) 銅原子を含む分子をスメクチック液晶にドープした試料においてX線異常散乱測定を行ないドーパント分子の位置を決定した。(2) リエントラント相転移を呈する反強誘電性液晶の層間隔の温度-電場依存性をX線散乱法により測定した結果、リエントラント相転移の起源が分子長の温度依存性にあることが分かった。(3) 短いラセンピッチを持つSmCα*相が現われるMHPOCBCの電場-温度相図を作成し、電場誘起相転移がソフトモードによって誘起されることが明らかになった。
