Research Abstract

金属や半導体などの無機材料をナノメーターサイズの微粒子にすると量子効果によりバルク材料とは全く異なる優れた性質を発現する。このため, ナノ微粒子のデバイス化を目指した研究が近年活発に行われている。これらの材料をデバイスへと展開するためには, ナノ微粒子をいかに効率よく組織化するかが鍵となる。本研究では, 光応答性液晶を利用して金属ナノ微粒子を自己組織化し, その組織構造を光で制御することを検討した。本研究では金属ナノ微粒子として合成が比較的容易な金のナノ微粒子を用い, 液晶性アゾベンゼンを結合した金ナノ微粒子の合成とその液晶挙動および光応答挙動を検討した。合成した金ナノ微粒子の吸収スペクトル測定の結果, アゾベンゼンに由来する吸収帯の他に510 nm付近に金ナノ微粒子のプラズモン共鳴に起因すると考えられるブロードな吸収が観察された。また, 紫外光照射を行って吸収スペクトルを測定し, 金ナノ微粒子上でもアゾベンゼン部位の光化学反応が可逆的に起こることを確認した。さらに, 偏光顕微鏡観察およびDSC測定の結果, 合成した微粒子は液晶性を示すことが分かった。アゾベンゼンがトランス体の状態では, 金ナノ微粒子が一次元的に組織化されることが分かった。一方, アゾベンゼンがシス体に異性化すると金ナノ微粒子はランダムに凝集することを確認した。すなわち, 本研究では, ナノ微粒子表面に結合したアゾベンゼンの光異性化により, ナノ微粒子集合体の構造を光で制御できることを見いだした。
