Research Abstract

軟骨魚類が海に生きるために、体内に尿素を蓄積することは必要不可欠で、複雑な構造を持つ腎臓での尿素再吸収がそのことを可能にしている。ゾウギンザメで新規尿素輸送体を複数同定し、飼育下のドチザメでは尿素輸送体が環境浸透圧の変化によって細胞膜への集積が可逆的に制御されることを見出した。進行中の広塩性アカエイや培養系での解析とあわせ、軟骨魚類の腎機能、脊椎動物での腎機能の進化の解明に大きく貢献した。
