Research Abstract

緑色光合成細菌のアンテナ複合体クロロゾームは、光合成における光捕獲装置の1つである。クロロゾーム内に含まれているロッドエレメントと呼ばれる構造物は、バクテリオクロロフィルc分子の高次会合体から成っていると言われてきたが、その詳細な構造は永年の間決定されていなかった。研究代表者は種々の分光学と回折学とを駆使し、その構造を、実験事実を統一的に説明することの出来る層状の二量体積層構造であると決定した。
