Research Abstract |
We developed new sensors selective to caffeine and reactive oxygen species such as hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion. We utilized a commercially available oxygen electrode to detect reactive oxygen species. Applications of sensors were performed to determine the precise channel sizes of biologically active substances formed in cellular membranes and to elucidate the mechanism of photo-inactivated action of porphyrins on bacterial membranes.
