Research Abstract |
Regulation of intracellular Ca concentration (Ca^<2+>) is important for cardiac contraction. Especially, modulation of sarcoplasmic reticulum (Ca^<2+> store) function has a significant role on cardiac contractility. Selective up-regulation of sarcoplasmic reticulum function improved cardiac function during acidosis (important factor of cardiac dysfunction during ischemia). Ca^<2+> leak from sarcoplasmic reticulum is identified as another important determinant of cardiac function.
