Research Abstract

エラスターゼを用い作成した肺気腫モデルマウスに骨髄由来間葉系幹細胞(MSC)を経気道的に投与したところ、肺気腫の形成が抑制された。MSCは障害部位に到達するものの特異的肺胞上皮細胞に分化することはなく、従来言われていた直接的生着分化のメカニズムでMSCの組織修復能を説明することはできなかった。組織修復の機序解明を進めた結果、MSCは局所で抗免疫作用をもつサイトカイン、組織修復促進物質などの生理活性物質の放出を通して炎症抑制・修復促進を行うことにより障害肺組織の修復に関与していることを証明した。
