Research Abstract

Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)は生体内で強力な抗酸化作用を有し、酸化ストレスによる組織傷害を抑制する。本研究の結果、Bach1 KOマウスでは、損傷脊髄におけるHO-1の発現が増加し、また神経組織傷害、アポトーシスおよび運動機能障害が抑制されることが分かった。したがって、Bach1のノックアウトによってHO-1の発現が増加し、脊髄損傷後の酸化ストレスによる脊髄障害が抑制されると考えられた。
