| Research Abstract |
カロテノイドの一種であるルテイン/ゼアキサンチンの、加齢黄斑変性で認められる脈絡膜新生血管に対する効果をテーマに、黄斑色素を構成するルテインの作用を検討した。我々はマウスの眼底にレーザーを照射して脈絡膜新生血管を誘導するモデルを用いた研究により、ルテインが炎症性転写因子NF-κB活性化を阻害し、脈絡膜新生血管形成に先行する炎症機序を抑制することで脈絡膜新生血管形成を抑制することを初めて明らかにした。
