原子直視法を利用した単一原子個別の単一光子分光

Research Abstract

昨年度までに本研究で開発してきた手法を用いて、光ファイバーの先端を数十ナノメートルまで先鋭化した。この光ファイバーを申請者が開発してきた、ファイバー光検出型試料ホルダーに取り付け、この試料ホルダーをナノチップ操作機能を組み込んだ高分解能透過型電子顕微鏡に挿入し、ファイバーの研磨部先端を観察した。この時点で、最終的に研磨された先端角度、先端径などの形状を観察した。電子顕微鏡内のピエゾマニュピュレーションで、先端をさらに機械的に研磨した結果、原子サイズまで微細化できることが明らかになった。以上の実験によって、開口径、ファイバー先端の開き角等の形状について、原子レベルで構造最適化された光ファイバーを得る手法を確立した。原子を直視できる空間分解能で、対象となるナノ構造を観察し、それに本研究で開発した最も小さい近接場光学顕微鏡プローブを接近させ、数ナノメートノレ領域の光学応答を検出できる手法が開発された。特に、本研究で得られたファイバー先端の最小径は、単一原子からの発光を検出できる1nm以下に減少した。
