Research Abstract

地殻内フラクチャーは主に地殻浅所に蓄積された応力歪が地震として解放されるとき生成し、同じフラクチャーが繰り返し活動することが多い。このようなフラクチャーがどれくらいの時間間隔で発生するのか、あるいはその時間間隔や発生から終了までの活動期間がどのような応力条件を反映しているのか、これまでにほとんど明らかにされていない。フラクチャー発生域で鉱化作用が起こると、通常は保存されないフラクチャーが鉱脈として保存される。数多くの鉱脈には繰り返し活動した形跡が認められ、多くのバンド(縞)が保存される。鉱脈の中に年代測定可能な物質が含まれていれば、フラクチャーの形成史を詳細に求めることが出きる。
菱刈鉱床には異なる応力場を反映した2種類の鉱脈パターンがあり、これらの生成メカニズムを明らかにすることが目的のひとつである。これまで行った50個の試料の^<40>Ar/^<39>Ar年代測定に加え、さらに13個の^<40>Ar/^<39>Ar年代測定を行った。このために鉱脈群のシステマティックな試料採取を実施した。
試料については蛍光X線分析装置、X線粉末回折装置にて試料のキャラクタリゼーションを行った。オランダの原子炉において中性子放射を行い、その後、さらにスウェーデン・ルンド大学でAr同位体質量分析装置を用いて年代測定を実施した。得られた年代データを整理し、フラクチャーの発達過程の空間的および時間的性質を考察した。
