Research Abstract

物体表面の材質についての情報が脳においてどのように表現されているのかを明らかにするため、材質画像データベースの作成及び脳イメージング解析を行った。材質表現の基礎となる形状・テクスチャ・色情報の表現についてサルを用いた機能的磁気共鳴画像法により解析し、形状・テクスチャに関する情報と色彩に関する情報がサル下側頭皮質内で非均一的に分布していること、また下側頭皮質の一部は形状・テクスチャ・色彩の組み合わせに依存した反応を示すことを明らかにした。
