Research Abstract |
数は最も普遍的な概念の一つである。本研究では、最も単純な数概念の情報処理過程の一つであるカウンティングに着目することで、数概念の獲得と運用のヒト脳内メカニズムに迫ることを大きな目的として研究を行った。脳磁図(MEG)を用いた実験では、カウンティングを行う際に、左前頭頭頂間コヒーレンス値が、アルファベット課題や音階課題を用いたコントロール条件と比し特徴的に増加することが見出された(Gjini, et al., 2008)。これまでの申請者の、機能的磁気共鳴画像法(fMRI)、経頭蓋磁気刺激(TMS)を用いた研究で、左運動前野がカウンティングの遂行に重要な役割を果たすことが示唆されており(Kansaku, et al., 2007)、また頭頂葉は数処理に重要であるといわれてきた。今回のMEG実験により、左前頭頭頂間で情報伝達を行うことが、カウンティングの遂行に重要であることが示唆された。MEG実験では、健常成人12名、小児3名にて計測を行った。さらに、これまでの申請者の、fMRI、TMS、MEGといった多角的非侵襲脳機能計測の手法を用いた数概念の情報処理過程に関する研究の結果を踏まえて、カウンティングのヒト脳内情報処理に関する説明を、コネクショニストモデルを用いて行うことを試みた(Shimotomai and Kansaku, 2008)。また、このシミュレーションにより、TMS実験で見られた特徴的なエラー分布を再現することに成功した。
