Research Abstract

食物を口に含んだ時に感じる「flavor」の知覚には、味覚と嗅覚の統合が重要な役割を果たす。本研究では島皮質における味覚と嗅覚の統合メカニズムを明らかにすることを目指している。本研究によって、味覚、嗅覚の同時刺激によって強い応答する細胞(→flavor刺激に選択性を持つ細胞)が島皮質で見つかった。現在無麻酔下動物を用いて、このような細胞の応答が経験依存的にどのように変化するかを明らかにしつつある。
