Research Abstract

大脳皮質は、6層の神経細胞層で作られており各層は同様な機能と形態的な特徴を持つ細胞で構成されており、最も基本となる機能単位として神経回路を作る基礎になっています。この大脳皮質の構造は、胎児期に神経細胞が移動することで作られます。申請者は、神経移動の様式の1つである多極性移動が、分泌蛋白質であるネトリンと多極性移動中の細胞の細胞膜上にあるUNC5D受容体によってコントロールされることを見出しました。本研究では、多極性神経細胞の移動を制御する細胞外シグナル分子の実体として、初めてネトリンとUNC5Dの関与を明らかにしました。本研究の成果は、多極性神経細胞の移動を制御する分子メカニズムの解明にとどまらず、今後大脳皮質の形成の仕組みを解き明かす上で大きなヒントを与えることが期待されます。
