Research Abstract |
心筋梗塞や脳梗塞は、血管の肥厚内膜が破れるプラーク破綻(破裂)が引き金になるとされているが、このプラーク破綻のメカニズムは不明のままである。研究代表者の佐々木は、マウスを用いたプラーク破綻モデルを作成し、そのメカニズムの解明を試みた。その結果、このマウスモデルにおけるプラーク破綻には、病変部に集積する炎症細胞(マクロファージ、好中球等)と、それらの細胞が放出するプロテアーゼが重要であることを明らかにした。
