Research Abstract

本研究は、アメリカ合衆国憲法に示される「政教分離」という憲法学上の原則を通常の世俗化の文脈からとらえるのではなく、「脱世俗化」という特殊アメリカ史的な文脈からとらえなおし、その政治的沿革を明らかにすることをめざしたものである。研究成果は、アメリカ政治外交史および連邦政府成立史をとらえなおすものとなった。特に「脱世俗化」という分析枠組みは、これまで研究されてきた「市民宗教」論に新たな知見を加える可能性を示し得たのではないかと思われる。
