Research Abstract

本研究は、深海底における海洋潮汐エネルギー散逸過程に関わる現象を海底地震観測で検出し、そのメカニズムを解明することを目的とした。代表者は深海底における広帯域地震観測から得られたデータ解析により、長周期海洋重力波が海洋潮汐と共鳴するという新規の事実を見出し、海洋潮汐エネルギー散逸過程として長周期海洋重力波との共鳴励起という全く新しいメカニズムを提案した。一方でこれを検証する理論を構築し観測を説明した。以上の結果をNature communications誌に投稿した。
