Research Abstract

2007年の研究成果:
1.アルミニウム、水素を含むスティショバイトのポストスティショバイト相転移(スティショバイトからCaC12構造への相転移)の圧力が低圧側へと大きく移動することが明らかとなった。またアルミニウムを含むスティショバイトでは25GPaで相転移することが分かった(アルミニウムを含まない場合の相転移圧力は50-60GPa)。この結果より、これまで謎とされていた下部マントル最上部における地震波異常の原因を、沈み込む海洋スラブ中におけるポストスティショバイト相転移で説明できる可能性がある。またアルミニウムを含むスティショバイトは20GPaで0.3wt%まで水を含みうることが分かった。
2.鉄を含む場合と含まない場合のオリビン、ウォズリアイト、リングウッダイトの含水量を系統的に調べ、上部マントルとマントル遷移層における含水量マップを推定した。
3.SPring-8放射光施設において、マルチアンビル高圧装置と放射光X線を用いて含水B相と鉄を含むD相の圧力-体積-温度の関係を調べ、各相の状態方程式を得た。これにより、マントル深部条件でのパイロライト組成における含水B相とD相の密度を正確に見積もることが可能となった。下部マントル最上部におけるこれらの含水相による沈み込むスラブ(1wt%の含水量)の密度は、1.5-2.0%減少することが明らかとなった。以上より、1wt%以上の水を含む含水スラブは周囲のマントル岩石よりも軽く、下部マントル深部までは沈み込んでいかないであろう。
