Research Abstract

再現性の高い単一分子の電気伝導測定を可能とすることを目的とし、金上のチオール、シリコン上Si-C 結合を介した単分子層等の自己組織化単分子層(SAM)上に、合成化学的手法を用いて金属層を析出させ、構造のよく規制された金属層-SAM-金属(または半導体)基板からなる接合構造の作成法を確立した。また実際に電気伝導測定を行って電荷移動機構を明らかにした。さらにフェルミ準位付近に分子軌道を有し、多電子酸化還元能を示すルテニウム二核錯体を骨格に含むSAM を金表面上に形成し、電気化学走査型トンネル顕微鏡を用いて、分子一個ずつを識別しながら電気伝導性の評価を行った。分子の像輝度(トンネル電流の流れやすさ)は、探針、基板、分子軌道のエネルギーレベルの相対位置により変化し、軌道を介した共鳴トンネリングによる電子伝導パスが存在すると解釈した。
