Research Abstract

遺伝子組換え技術によりノロウイルスVLPs を発現させることに成功した。発現されたVLPs を電子顕微鏡により観察することにより、その形状および大きさ(35.7 ± 3.2 nm)が野生のノロウイルス粒子とほぼ同一であることを確認した。この粒子を用い、凝集(PACl) -沈澱処理における除去性を調べたところ、十分な凝集剤添加条件下(> 1.08 mg-Al/L )において、2 log 程度の除去が可能であることが示された。また、VLPs の除去率は、同時添加した大腸菌ファージQβや大腸菌ファージMS2 に近かった。このことは、凝集沈澱処理では、これらの大腸菌ファージがノロウイルスの指標ウイルスとして使える可能性を示している。本研究では、発現されたノロウイルスVLPs を用いることにより、これまで評価ができていなかったノロウイルスの浄水処理性が評価できることが示された。
