Research Abstract

ppGpp(グアノシン四リン酸)は、アミノ酸等の栄養源枯渇に伴い合成される異常核酸であり、バクテリアや植物の増殖等を制御することが知られている。本研究では、グラム陽性細菌である枯草菌において、これまでに知られていたppGpp合成酵素とは異なる二種のppGpp合成酵素(YjbM, YwaC)遺伝子を新たに見出し、これらの遺伝子産物がppGpp合成酵素として実際に機能することを証明した。
