Research Abstract

塩田や塩湖の様な高い塩分濃度の環境にのみ生育する微生物が存在する。この様な微生物の一種である好塩性古細菌の硝酸塩を亜硝酸に還元する酵素の研究を行った。酸素のない条件で好塩性古細菌が生育するために、この酵素が必須である事がわかった。この酵素を精製し、分析した結果から、他の生物が持つ異なる酵素の一部分ずつを融合させる事によって、この酵素が生じた事がわかった。
