Research Abstract

短期間に爆発的な種分化を起こしてきたヴィクトリア湖産カワスズメ科魚類(シクリッド)を用いて、種の分化と形成のメカニズムを分子レベルで明らかにすることを試みた。その結果、光受容体の遺伝子が生息する光環境に適応し、次いで婚姻色が、適応した光受容体に感度良く吸収される光を反射する色に進化し、これらにより別種との認識が弱くなり種分化が引き起こされることを明らかにした。
