Research Abstract

てんかんは、大脳の神経細胞がいっせいに活動してしまうことで様々な発作を起こす病気であり、その原因の一つは神経回路の形成異常である。本研究では、げっ歯類を利用した実験によって、乳幼児期の熱性けいれんが神経細胞の移動を撹乱することが、成体期の脳内における一部の神経回路の形成異常に繋がることが示唆された。また、この現象は、神経伝達物資であるγ(ガンマ)-アミノ酪酸(GABA)が、神経細胞の正常な移動を阻害するためであることが示された。
