Research Abstract

乳児に関する感覚情報(表情、泣き声、匂い)に対する女性の脳の反応性を調べる為に、母親と未産婦の脳活動の比較を行った。結果、感覚の種類によらず、母親は未産婦に比べ、右前頭前野の活動性が増加していた。さらに、部位特異性を調べた結果、右腹内側領域の活動が顕著であった。したがって、ヒト母親では妊娠・出産・授乳を契機に、脳の機能的再編が生じ(母性脳)、それによって母性行動が引き起こされる可能性を示唆した。
