| Research Abstract |
研究代表者は脳内の神経細胞同士のつなぎ目「シナプス」で神経伝達物質の放出を調節するタンパク質を発見した。これが別のタンパク質の分解に関わっていることから、「壊し屋」の意味で「SCRAPPER(スクラッパー)」と名付けた。このタンパク質はシナプスでの情報伝達に不可欠なタンパク質を分解し、神経伝達物質の放出量を適度に抑えている。本研究の成果により、シナプスでの伝達の異常が起きている脳神経精神疾患の新しい治療薬の開発につながることが期待される。
