Research Abstract

AIDS患者は全世界で約3300万人存在し、年間約210万人もの人が亡くなっている。先進国の中で感染者数が増え続けているのは日本だけである。AIDSの治療を困難にしている大きな理由にHIVの潜伏感染があるがその分子機構はよくわかっていない。今回の研究では、潜伏感染の成立とその破綻機構の解明を試みた。その結果、HIV潜伏感染の成立に関与しうる新たな分子の同定と、潜伏感染が歯周病原菌によって再活性化されることを見出した。
