Research Abstract

体の表面を覆う皮膚は、体を外敵から守る重要な臓器である。その最も外側にある表皮の大部分を占める表皮角化細胞には、物理的に体を守るバリアとしての働き以外にも、病原微生物の成分を認識する自然免疫の働きがあることが分かって来た。本研究にて、表皮角化細胞の受容体の発現は、病原微生物成分の刺激を受けて亢進することが分かった。従来免疫担当細胞として認識されていなかった表皮角化細胞においても、これらの受容体が機能しており、病原体を排除するための生体反応の引き起こすことが分かった。さらに、ヒスタミンが、表皮角化細胞の自然免疫活性化に影響を与えることが分かった。
