Research Abstract |
オメガ-3多価不飽和脂肪酸の一つであるエイコサペンタエン酸(EPA)摂取は脈絡膜における炎症抑制を介して加齢黄斑変性(AMD)の本態である脈絡膜血管新生(CNV)を抑制することが示された。またCNVの抑制は眼局所のみならず全身の炎症レベルの低下による可能性が示唆された。現在米国ではEPAのAMD発症に対する介入試験が行われている。本研究はその生物学的根拠となりうるものである。
