Research Abstract

睡眠時ブラキシズム(歯ぎしり)は、歯や歯周組織に害を及ぼすだけでなく、筋痛や顎関節障害を発症・継続させる因子として考えられてきた。しかしこれらの関連性については未だ明確な結論は得られていない。そこで我々は、顎関節症の好発年齢である高校生を対象に疫学研究を行ったところ、ブラキシズム頻度と顎関節雑音(クリック)の関連性が認められた。さらに継続研究を行いブラキシズムと顎関節症発症や症状継続の因果関係を検討したところ、ブラキシズムは有意なリスク因子とはいえなかった。
