Research Abstract

自然睡眠中の動物の咀嚼筋活動の特性として、1)睡眠中は閉口筋は開口筋より活動量が高い傾向がある、2)開閉口筋の筋活動量の比率は一定でない、3)咀嚼筋活動量の増加は覚醒レベルの増加と相関し、その傾向はノンレム睡眠で著名であった、4)睡眠中の閉口筋バーストには反復性のものと持続性のものが認められた。このように、ヒトの睡眠中の咀嚼筋活動と類似する特性も認められたため、睡眠時ブラキシズムの動物モデルとして有用であると考えられた。
