Research Abstract

歯のエナメル質が作られるときに重要な役割を持つとされるタンパク質(アメロジェニン)が、他にもいくつか役割を持つことが判明してきた。本研究では、その新たな役割を調べるために、ほ乳類細胞を使って人工的にアメロジェニンタンパク質を作り出すことに成功した。次にこの作り出したタンパク質が、具体的にどのような役割を持つか異なる性質を持つ培養細胞を用いて調べたところ、特に骨に近い性質を持つ細胞に影響を与え、細胞をより骨を作りやすい性格に変化させることが示唆された。
