Research Abstract

植物は、植食性昆虫の攻撃を受けると揮発性物質(匂い)を放出し、それを受容した健全植物が防衛機構を発現するという現象(プラントトーク)が知られている。本研究では、ジャヤナギの防御関連遺伝子発現を指標に、室内トーク実験で植物の匂い応答の検出を試みた。ヤナギは匂い受容のみでは遺伝子を発現しないが、匂い受容植物上でハムシの成育が低下することから、匂いのプライミング効果によって食害時に迅速かつ強力な抵抗性を発揮すると考えられる。
