Research Abstract

我々の住む銀河系の主な構成成分である水素ガスや星の起源と進化に注目することにより、銀河系や銀河の起源や進化過程に関する研究を行った。特にクエーサー吸収線系と呼ばれるガス吸収体に注目した。その結果、星形成が進んでいない矮小銀河がクエーサー吸収線系と観測されるガス雲を構成していることが理論及び観測的結果から示唆された。この成果により、今後の電波観測や補償光学装置などを用いた可視光観測により、「銀河間ガスから銀河への形成・進化過程」が解明されることが期待できる。
