Research Abstract

私たちは5本の指を持っており、それぞれの指は親指から小指にかけて異なった特徴ある形態をしています。今回、この形の違いが生み出されるメカニズムをニワトリの受精卵を使って調べました。その結果、発生中に指先の先端に指を造るために重要な細胞群を見いだし、PFR(指骨形成領域)の細胞群を新たに命名しました。さらにこの細胞群は指原器の後側の指間部からBMP(骨形成成長因子)を受け取っており、それぞれの指原器のPFRが受け取るBMPシグナルの量的な違いによって指の個性が決定されていることが分かりました。
