Research Abstract

本研究代表者の鈴木は一酸化窒素合成酵素(nNOS)由来のNOが廃用性筋萎縮を促進することを初めて見出した. 本研究では筋萎縮性側索硬化症(ALS)の病態を骨格筋側の視点で捉え直しnNOSを修飾することによるALSの新規治療法開発の可能性について検討した。ALS病態ではatrogin1など他の筋萎縮系と共通の分子が働くことが明らかになった。一方でiNOSも発現増強するため、病勢のコントロールのためにはnNOS以外のNOSの調整も必要であると考えられた。
