Research Abstract

本研究は、膵管上皮に存在する前駆細胞がβ細胞に分化するメカニズムを明らかにすることが目的である。β細胞に分化する前駆細胞は、様々な組織や細胞、あるいは膵臓内の細胞などに存在すると言われているが、申請者は、これまでの研究で膵管上皮にも前駆細胞があることを系統追跡実験により突き止めている。また再生時の膵管上皮は、膵臓発生に必須の転写因子が一過性に発現し、この発現が前駆細胞からインスリン陽性細胞になるために重要であることも他研究において知られている。
そこで本研究では、その転写因子を膵管上皮特異的にノックアウトし、機能解析を行って、膵管上皮に存在する前駆細胞からβ細胞に分化するメカニズムを明らかにしていく。
