Outline of Research at the Start

褐藻類，特にアミジグサ目，シオミドロ目，ヒバマタ目，コンブ目の高次の系統関係を，すでに公表されているゲノム情報と，これまでに解析されていないが，鍵となる分類群の一般的に用いられている核，葉緑体およびミトコンドリア遺伝子の塩基配列情報に基づき解明する。これによって得られた系統樹と，分布及び系統関係の詳細が明らかになった種を対象に，それぞれの系統群の系統地理学的な解析を行い，海藻類の多様化のパターンについて議論する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

海藻類の系統分類に関しては，日本およびニューカレドニアなどの熱帯域に分布する褐藻アミジグサ目のLobophora属，Newhousia属，Taonia属，紅藻Hildenbrandia属などの種について分類の再検討を行い，多くの新種を報告すると共に，生物地理学的な情報の整理を行った。また，これらの知見とこれまでに報告されているフロラ研究の成果をふまえて，地球規模での褐藻類の分布拡大と種分化におけるパターンについて考察を行った。また，フランスを中心に国際コンソーシアムで進められている褐藻類の網羅的なゲノム解析プロジェクトに参加して，解析対象となった種の系統関係についてドラフトゲノム情報を用いて効率的に明らかにするため，数十個の核コードのシングルコピー遺伝子に基づく分子系統解析を行い，信頼度の高い分子系統樹を得た。また，褐藻類の多様性と進化に関する総説の執筆に参加して，分子系統および分類についての章を担当した。これらの成果は8編の国際誌における原著論文，総説として公表された。
